Pokemon Jupiter Bug/Game Review topic
« on: October 16, 2008, 11:31:54 am »
To prevent an overload of posts in the Pokemon Jupiter hack thread, I'm posting a thread where you can present reviews or bugs.

I do not want to hear:

"Flaram has the same moves as Torchic! You only changed the sprites and names!" - No, it's a different pokemon. Just because it learns peck does not mean that they are the same.

"They keep calling Kraden Professor Birch!"

"That door in Aleph Town leads to Bohemian Gorge!!" - Yeah, I know, I was testing bohemian gorge.

"Why is (insert city name here) city the same?"

"Why does Numel have a funny name?"

"Mr. Pink goes too far down in the beginning!"

"[insert event here] is still there! Why didn't you change that? Lame..."

"Razor Wind/B makes the game go all funny in contests!" - these two moves (B is the original Moonlight, I replaced cosmic power with it; it's animation got screwed over) were removed from the pokemon but there is no way to remove them from the contest pokemons.

"The starter's cries are the same but Benubaby and Krowpie have new cries! Why aren't there any new cries?"

"Why are there still some of the old songs in there?"

These are all known errors, many of which are related to the fact that this is an EARLY release so I don't need them rubbed in my face. Post errors that I haven't heard about 500 times before, either. I do not want to hear about the guy that freezes the game in the first city. I KNOW ABOUT IT. Also make sure you aren't all complaining about the same error.

Don't worry, I'm not angry.

Now that I'm done, you can post errors here.

1) If you battle a trainer, their is a 4 or 5 long space after their names.
2) The Lass  trainers' colors are messed up. (not really that big of a deal, I just thought I'd point it out.)
3) At the PokeMart in Oldale town, the two people in it are actually standing in the space where the shelves are.
4) The woman in the Styxwater pokecenter recognizes what ever pokemon you chose, as the one from the original game. (Ex: I chose Buoyanox and she referred to it as a Mudkip.)
5) When you capture a Pinba, it's icon when you go into the "Pokemon" menu option is actually a Wurmple. (Don't worry Charon, I hate bug Pokemon as well... >.< )
6) I ran into a wild Krowpie and halway through the battle, the music just stopped. And after a little bit it came back on, but it sounded all slow and weird and messed up. EDIT: There are quite a few other pokemon that do this as well. Any pokemon you meet in the Frozen Grotto, and in the area above the flower shop.
7) When using the Wailmer Pail or an HM outside of battle, Ivan's sprite turns into the Brendan sprite. (if you give me some of the Ivan sprites for reference, I can make some for the wailmer pail/surf. Does Ivan have a sprite for the bike?)
8 ) After you get Cut and got through the cave in the Frozen Grotto and go into the house that's outside the cave there are some men talking about Verdanturf Tunnel. When you exit the house you are not in the same spot you were when you entered. You are to the east of Cinder City.
9) I don't know if it was supposed to look like this or not, but Flocanis' footprint looks a bit like Missingno. from R/B version.

O Noez.

Run, rabbit run. Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done, Don't sit down it's time to dig another one.
For long you live and high you fly, But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave, You race towards an early grave.

- If you look at a map (I looked at the one in Styxwater City), Lilycove City shows with LILYCOVE CITY as it's name, whereas all the rest have changed names and have Caps and Small letters (Lilycove City has it all caps).

- I can't run in Styxwater City's Pokemart, though I can run in any other building (so far).

ok, so the first building in zaptap takes you to a black screen... and did you mean to put a master ball in that same town?

If you go into the house that Orange GS Person mentioned, the one with people talking about Rustturf tunnel, and go out to the right, you get to the tunnel itself. If you go into Rustturf Tunnel, you can't leave unless you have Surf or an escape rope, because the exit changes to a place in Meteor Falls (or at least it looks like that). A level 24 Chipmine also attacked me there.

You don't actually see the guy you need to give Devon Goods too. And it's still called Devon Goods.

Super Mega XD on Zsep's first post here. About that, that's caused by the fact that one of the magma sprites was my old Rachel sprite XD. I haven't done much from around Cloud Nine City to Seagrass Town (with the exceptions of Blizice, Spruce, and a few routes)...

Okay, I'll answer these 1 by 1 (most are me not being finished with the game; it is an early release after all)

"If you battle a trainer, their is a 4 or 5 long space after their names."

I knew about this. It's caused by PET, a trainer editing program. It can be fixed, it's just that I'd have to change every single little trainer in the game, and that's not fun.

"The Lass  trainers' colors are messed up. (not really that big of a deal, I just thought I'd point it out.)"

I accidentally changed the Lass's pallete when inserting the Adam sprite. Will eventually be fixed.

"At the PokeMart in Oldale town, the two people in it are actually standing in the space where the shelves are."

I changed the map, but they're still in their original places, causing this goofy mishap =/ I'll fix it in the next release.

"The woman in the Styxwater pokecenter recognizes what ever pokemon you chose, as the one from the original game. (Ex: I chose Buoyanox and she referred to it as a Mudkip.)"

"When you capture a Pinba, it's icon when you go into the "Pokemon" menu option is actually a Wurmple. (Don't worry Charon, I hate bug Pokemon as well... >.< )"

More laziness. Forgot to change the little details. This is an early release, after all.

"I ran into a wild Krowpie and halway through the battle, the music just stopped. And after a little bit it came back on, but it sounded all slow and weird and messed up. EDIT: There are quite a few other pokemon that do this as well. Any pokemon you meet in the Frozen Grotto, and in the area above the flower shop."

That's... strange. I didn't encounter this one. I think it may have something to do with the song data.

"When using the Wailmer Pail or an HM outside of battle, Ivan's sprite turns into the Brendan sprite. (if you give me some of the Ivan sprites for reference, I can make some for the wailmer pail/surf. Does Ivan have a sprite for the bike?)"

More epic laziness. More sprite making would be FTW, please post in the other topic.

"After you get Cut and got through the cave in the Frozen Grotto and go into the house that's outside the cave there are some men talking about Verdanturf Tunnel. When you exit the house you are not in the same spot you were when you entered. You are to the east of Cinder City."

Zsep already reported this.

"I don't know if it was supposed to look like this or not, but Flocanis' footprint looks a bit like Missingno. from R/B version."

I can't change footprints, sorry.

"If you look at a map (I looked at the one in Styxwater City), Lilycove City shows with LILYCOVE CITY as it's name, whereas all the rest have changed names and have Caps and Small letters (Lilycove City has it all caps)."

More not finished-ness.

"I can't run in Styxwater City's Pokemart, though I can run in any other building (so far)."

Didn't change that, I guess 0_o

"ok, so the first building in zaptap takes you to a black screen... and did you mean to put a master ball in that same town?"

There is a map error, I forgot to remove it. Also, I was testing something for the Masterball. There are all sorts of little testing scraps all over the place XD

"If you go into the house that Orange GS Person mentioned, the one with people talking about Rustturf tunnel, and go out to the right, you get to the tunnel itself. If you go into Rustturf Tunnel, you can't leave unless you have Surf or an escape rope, because the exit changes to a place in Meteor Falls (or at least it looks like that). A level 24 Chipmine also attacked me there."

The Coal Depths are an important part of the final way to get to Charon's final battle. I thought I closed off route 116 but apparently not...

"You don't actually see the guy you need to give Devon Goods too. And it's still called Devon Goods."

I knew this. I'm working on the fun of scripting it. If you go on the southern most tile, though, it should work.

A little update on a few errors i reported earlier.

Quite a few buildings are like this. Too many to name, in fact.

This was caused by the house leading to the Diggers' Rest House. However, if you enter Cinder City from Route 116, and try to go back, it takes you to Route 103, with map glitches. I guess that's the result of closing off Route 116 ;)

New things to report:
Devon Goods was in the shape of your rival. I talked to it, and it turned into the Goods. Was it supposed to be like that?

In Cinder City, there is a Krowpism Kult/Religion. If you go into the building with curtains, and talk to the man, he says a weird symbol, jumps over the table, gets a "!" above his head, and runs to the left. When he stops, you can't do anything (that includes opening menus).

The devon goods is just that I didn't change the sprite. No biggie.

The Cinder City thing I know about from Zsep. Thanks anyways.

I'm going to use route 116 most likely in a new map that isn't a route at all. Suprises...

A few more:
On Seaside Suburbs, Fisherman Elliot (the guy outside the cave) has level 93 pokemon D:
Intentional?

You don't get HM05 Flash from the Hiker inside the cave anymore. Or rather, he's just there, and doesn't talk. Is that also intentional?

Both no. The first is fixed in Pokemon Steven Version I believe.

It seems that that dude's script got screwed over. Don't die - Darkness Ridge is just like Granite Cave.

(Yes, I'm alive. I haven't died, I swear. Sorry I've been so busy lately...)

When battling a Maril (right outside of Darkfall Cave), I weakened it until it's health was in the red area in order to catch it. I went into my bag, and as soon as I switched it to the "Pokeballs" pocket, the game restarted itself. Freak accident? Maybe.

When battling Charon in Darkfall Cave, his text ends in a bunch of random characters, appearing all throughout and around the text box.

(Um... what is the white, eye lookin' thing on the wall in Darkfall Cave...? =P )

I'll try to play some more... and Charon, I am working on those sprites... just not very dilligently... =P Sorry...

First - I'll investigate this. However, I haven't encountered this problem with any other Pokemon.

Second - Already fix'd.

Third - It's a little thing that changes if you have the Quartz with you. There should be a cave there.

Good or bad, mentioned or not...
Flamonder is weak to Ground Attacks O_o. I only found this out after Water starter (forgot name _-_ bite me) used Mud Shot by mistake. <_<...>_> That and I had no PP xD
