Reading General Discussion
Harly:
(I think there used to be a topic like this, but I'm too lazy to look for it)
Have you been reading a good book? Looking for a nice novel to read? Perhaps you were really touched by a poem?Well, this is the thread for you! Anything related to novels, plays, poems, or just reading in general can go here!

Yaaay!! The last book I read, and now I'm getting my dad to read it is The Bride Collector by Ted Dekker. I really loved it.
Also, my favorite book is The Count of Monte Cristo. It's freaking amazing.

The one you mentioned in the movie thread? With the serial killer who drills holes in people?
I am almost finished with A Feast For Crows, third book in A Song of Ice and Fire (A Game of Thrones' series). I have been loving the series, and reccomend it to anybody who likes the Fantasy genre.

Yup!! That's the one. It was soooo good. What is the A Game of Thrones' series about?

Where do I even begin?
The series is about a myriad of complex and believable characters and the parts they play in a kingdom-wide war for the throne of a recently passed King (like 5 people end up crowning themselves). Meanwhile, Daenarys Targaryen, a member of the near wiped out previous royal family, and her brother, Visarys, attempt to return to Westeros and claim the throne themselves. To get the neccessary army, visarys ends up marrying Daenarys to Khal Drogo, a prominent Dothraki horselord (more important than it sounds). Magic becomes more prominent later in the series, but normally stays fairly light. It is a wonderful and immersive world, filled with lovable (or hateable) characters and powerful situations.
It is one of, if not the, best series I have ever read, and I read quite a lot.
