The series is about a myriad of complex and believable characters and the parts they play in a kingdom-wide war for the throne of a recently passed King (like 5 people end up crowning themselves). Meanwhile, Daenarys Targaryen, a member of the near wiped out previous royal family, and her brother, Visarys, attempt to return to Westeros and claim the throne themselves. To get the neccessary army, visarys ends up marrying Daenarys to Khal Drogo, a prominent Dothraki horselord (more important than it sounds). Magic becomes more prominent later in the series, but normally stays fairly light. It is a wonderful and immersive world, filled with lovable (or hateable) characters and powerful situations.
It is one of, if not the, best series I have ever read, and I read quite a lot.

This sounds pretty interesting. I'll give it a shot. Who is it by?

Goerge R.R. Martin
Glad that you're willing to try them. You won't regret it.

That sound pretty good! I have a long list of books that I need to read first, though. I've bought some that I haven't read yet, so I'm making myself not buy any other books until I read those. And before I read those I needa read the Jackie Robinson biography for history. :/
But I'm gonna read Bloodlines by Richelle Mead after that (I love her Vampire Academy series, so I'm hoping I'll like Bloodlines), then Wicked, and probably Son of a Witch if I like the first book (that requires me going out and buying, it, though, so I may read it last so it'll be fresh on my mind), then some random series I bought that was on sale for 3 dollars at Books A Million. I think it was called "Remember Me" or something like that.

That's fine. I do have to warn you though; the author seems to take some perverse pleasure in killing main characters off.
After I read a Feast for Crows (I meant Storm of Swords earlier) and A Dance with Dragons (last two books in the series), I plan on reading Nightfall And Other Short Stories by Issaac Asimov, and Fringemaker (pretty sure that's the title, not sure though), a sci-fi trilogy I downloaded for free.
For the most part, I read Sci-Fi and Fantasy, and the Occasional mystery novel.
Serah Hawke:
I gave up on Game of Thrones around the second last chapter, once the fighting started it got real boring.
Whole reason I liked the book up to that point was because it was all pretty much just people talking...and being giant a-holes.
I'm totally interested in the series, but I might have to come back to it in about a year or so, when I'm a little more patient.
