Missing the point I believe you are, but too late to undo it now.
It still would have been better had Sins answered, simply because he was the one claiming in the first place we were assuming his guilt upon something within the write-up.
I'm fairly sure Mercury knew what was actually being referenced, but more wanted Sins' reasoning.

Actually, I had no clue. I was honestly curious what he was talking about, and that he assumed we were blaming him for something insignificant, even though we spoke nothing of it.

And I also thought that the drugging was all Harly. Now I wonder what Cu's reasoning was…

Well... it is still a long shot but the clue I believe points to Sins' connection was less the poisoning of the mayor and more the fluid that was poured upon the window...
Sun had linked it, but by now my point has been made moot.
