Signed. I would really hate it if the Golden Sun series ended with Dark Dawn. It wasn't as great as the first two games, but the ending screams sequel.

Don't expect a rush job, though: Takahashi has asked for "a bit of time":
Considering how we had to wait 7 years for them to make Dark Dawn and how that game itself felt like it was completely rushed, I'm not sure how much "time" they should be afforded.

omg I'd love this to happen. Don't care if it takes them 3+ years to make, as long it finished with a spectacular bang!!!

As long as Camelot is allocated 3 consecutive years to spend actually make the game, I'm fine.  I feel like part of the problem with DD is that Camelot had to make a whole new engine for the DS, and that really cut into development time for the actual game.  Had they been given a serious amount of time to make the actual game, after the engine is done, I'm sure it would have been better.

I'm convinced that's actually why we have so many Pokemon remakes and third versions.  Game Freak needs time to make a new engine to build the 3DS games - so they make HGSS and (this time) the entire 5th gen on DS/i to tide us over.   My point is, why couldn't Camelot have had the luxury of that time?

its not like they actually took 7 years to make the game, they were just dickin' around for 6 years then decided to make a sequel.

Essentially, it was more like one year to make the basic engine and the other year of thumb twiddling to make the rest of the game

This is exactly my point. No way can you tell me that after 7 years to develop the game, this is all they had to show forth. During the whole 7 years they spent most of their time (this is my guess) on the development. I sure as hell don't believe they spent alot of time on the story itself. This is why I'm not as excited as I was before prior to the release of Dark Dawn. It was a huge letdown. Of course this is my opinion.

I could actually believe that considering how much Camelot loves to troll us. XD

Here's a list of the games Camelot released between GS1 and DD: (Source: Camelot Software Planning's Wikipedia page)
Quote
~Golden Sun — 2001 (Game Boy Advance)
Mobile Golf - 2001 (Game Boy Color)
~Golden Sun: The Lost Age — 2003 (Game Boy Advance)
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour — 2003 (Nintendo GameCube)
Mario Golf: Advance Tour — 2004 (Game Boy Advance)
Mario Power Tennis — 2004 (Nintendo GameCube)
Mario Tennis: Power Tour — 2005 (Game Boy Advance)
We Love Golf! — 2007 (Wii)
New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis - 2008 (Wii)
~Golden Sun: Dark Dawn - 2010 (DS)

Notice the roughly 4 year gap between the release of Mario Power Tennis and GSDD.  That's how much time they had to make DD.  Since DD was their first DS game, I'm going to assume they had to spend lots of time learning the ins and outs of DS development before even starting the engine, and then making the engine would have taken longer than other studios with previous DS experience as of 2008 or '09.

Fortunately, there's another entry in that list that gives me some measure of hope:
Quote
Mario Tennis Open - 2012 (3DS)

Perhaps, when it does come time for Camelot to make GS4, they won't be forced to ### around learning about the system before rushing the game.  Hence, a less rushed game.

Can't they just rent an engine or something? Loads of companies do that.

I think they did. The GSDD engine, as I've said, is the same as FFIV DS. Also I saw my friend playing "Fossil Fighters" for DS and that even uses this game engine. Apparently it's a well-used DS game engine.

Either way, I signed that sh#t in a heartbeat. It looks like we might not have to wait 7 years this time.
